Land Claims and Litigation Research

Land Claims and Litigation Research

Land claims and litigation require historical research that is precise, defensible, and built to withstand scrutiny. Our work is grounded in a careful, investigative approach that often uncovers and connects records overlooked by previous research—revealing patterns, omissions, and interpretations that materially affect negotiations and legal outcomes.

We conduct historical and ethnohistorical research in support of specific and special claims, litigation, and related negotiations. We produce analysis that can strengthen claims, clarify historical relationships, and reshape how past events are understood in present-day legal contexts.

Specific and special claims projects result in comprehensive historical reports prepared to meet the standards and submission requirements of various judicial settings.  Our reports are thoroughly referenced, transparent in method, and designed for use by legal teams, negotiators, and decision-makers.

All cited materials and supporting documents can also be digitized and organized into a secure, community-controlled digital archive. This ensures that evidence remains accessible, traceable, and reusable across claim stages, negotiations, and future work.
